Today I’d like to share the work of Brent Bai­ley; h is one of those black­smiths who makes it look easy– give him 20 min­utes and he’ll have a spear roughed out and look­ing like a museum piece. Walk by his table at a black­smithing con­fer­ence and if you can actu­ally get through the crowd of peo­ple ooh-ing and ahhing over his work, you’ll find the most beau­ti­ful tools you have ever seen. And just look at these, I mean come on, wouldn’t you call these ham­mers beautiful?

Per­son­ally, I’ve been nag­ging Brent for years now to make more jew­elry. Which is not to say that I under­value his tools, or that the busi­ness of tool­mak­ing is not lucra­tive. But wouldn’t you agree Brent is deny­ing the world the gift of his beau­ti­ful, sim­ple and time­less jew­elry by not mak­ing more? I will give him credit though, he HAS been mak­ing more Dam­as­cus steel pen­dants which are GORGEOUS and sell out in about ten sec­onds at every conference.
