Is that our hero, or his grandfather as a young man? Hard to tell.

Summer skies

28/08/2013 — Leave a comment

It’s been a pretty perfect summer here in Charm City— a mix of hot and sunny with a healthy dose of rain. But I will admit it’s been a disappointing year so far for the big storms that blow in with hurricanes. The upside of course is everything has grown like a glorious jungle and swimming outside is just beautiful (I’ve been able to do laps out in the sun since April or May and look forward to doing so for several more weeks).

Despite the beautiful sunny weather, I still keep hoping for a nice big storm. So while I sit inside today working on a mix of things, I keep glancing out the window to see if the overcast skies have transitioned to storm clouds. No such luck as yet. In the meantime, here are some of my texture photos that make me think of the rainy days I keep hoping for:

It’s been pretty busy around here lately, so his highness has been catching up on his beauty sleep while I work away.

Clouds

21/08/2013 — Leave a comment

It’s no secret that I take a lot of pictures— some more “serious” photographs but most probably qualify as snapshots. Recently I’ve noticed how many snaps I seem to take of clouds. It was never a conscious goal to document clouds, nor do I spend much time in real life looking up at the sky. But for some reason in all of my travels, I end up taking heaps of cloud pictures. Perhaps it’s all the time I spend seated by windows on planes and trains and driving around the countryside.

How about you? Do you find yourself unconsciously taking pictures around a (semi-)consistent theme?

Stripes

While these photos don’t capture stripes in the traditional sense, I still can’t help noticing a pattern (of patterns?) in these shots.

I don’t think either of us has been getting enough sleep lately…

Feeling rather minimal today after a stressful night. His majesty is sleeping in this morning while I’m out getting the paper.

We’re both a little spacey today, daydreaming of fall or more sleep or y’know a nice catnip filled toy…

So it’s hurricane season (or has been for weeks but has finally been picking up). And that means, among other things, potential for good storm clouds (perfect for watching and picture snapping). Having grown up with hurricanes, I actually look forward to the crazy storms. While I wait for this year’s batch of end-of-summer storms and ‘canes, here are a few of my favorite storm cloud pics from the recent past:

How about you guys? Do you like watching big storms?

His highness has been out of sorts over the last few days. So I thought today I’d try visualizing very abstractly what that might look like.

What do you think? Too… odd?
